We are celebrating half a century of honoring ordinary citizens for extraordinary things.
Courage and heroism are always celebrated, and in the 50 years since the Canadian Order of Courage was first created, nearly 3,300 brave individuals have been honored for acts of bravery that impact Canada or Canadians. From intervening in attacks to saving people from submerged cars, their “acts of bravery in dangerous situations” made these ordinary citizens ordinary heroes among us; by selflessly risking their lives to save or protect others, they won this country and one of Canada’s highest honors for courage: the Order of Courage is highlighted on this coin to commemorate its 50th anniversary. 50 Years Old Medal of Courage! Celebrating half a century of recognition for acts of selfless courage.
